Let’s work together, lionheart!

CURRENT COMMISSION INFORMATION:

My weaving commissions are OPEN and I’m available to start working with you! Please note that I complete weavings in the order of inquiry forms received.

Each Lionheart Canyon weaving is intentionally and carefully made, meant to last as heirloom pieces for many years to come. I use only top quality fibers like sari silk, handspun art yarn, alpaca wool, chiffon ribbon, handtorn velvet, recycled cotton cord, vintage fabric, and more. Each weaving is handsewn onto a piece of foraged driftwood or a collected tree branch.

Over the past (nearly) ten years, I have developed a unique voice and expertise in my work. When you collaborate with me on a custom statement weaving, we merge your vision with my artist’s eye, creating a statement wall hanging that will never be replicated. I look forward to working with you when it is your time!

Please continue reading about my commission process. If you have any questions about working with me, please send a note to me at kate@lionheartcanyonstudio.com. I am always happy to chat!

Here’s the rundown of how the commission process works!

  1. The first step is to submit your commission inquiry form. You can share the size, color story, fibers, and “emotion” of what you’re looking for! If you don’t know exactly what you’re wanting yet, that’s okay! Fill out the form with what you know, and we can talk it through.

  2. I will email you within 48 hours of receiving your inquiry to acknowledge that I’ve received your form. We can set up an optional complimentary Zoom video call, and talk further about your vision.

  3. I will send you a second email a few days before I expect to start working on your commission. This email will share the price quote, the fibers I’ve curated, a dimension/proportion sketch, and clear up any questions I may have. *** This will happen when your weaving is next in my queue. This helps me stay organized/focused on what I’m currently working on, and shift into the planning process for yours.

  4. After you’ve approved the fiber/color story and budget, we will chat about payment options. You can pay 50% or more in full before I start weaving. An invoice will be emailed to you, which serves as a contract for going through with the commission. The weaving must be paid in full before it is sent to you.

  • Pricing is generally based off $2 per square inch formula of the woven body, not including the area of the fringe. The cost of the fringe material and fibers used will be added to that amount. The shipping cost will be invoiced after the weaving is finished and packaged.

    • Example: You’re looking for an 18'‘ wide by 24'‘ tall weaving. The woven body itself will be 18'‘ wide by 16” tall, with 8” length of fringe, making the woven body 288 square inches — 288 x $2 is $576. The materials and fringe cost is roughly $75, so total comes to approximately $650.

    • Weavings that are below 500 square inches in area will generally follow the $2/square inch formula.

    • Weavings larger than 500 square inches will be priced case by case. I am happy to provide a quote with no pressure to go forward on a commission!

    • Please note that pricing is more than just the completed weaving — it includes more than ten years of my expertise, cost of high quality/long lasting fibers, my valuable time, the intentional ideation of your piece, and various communications.

    • Weaving commissions are made as heirloom quality artworks, meant to last for many years to come. You will be able to share your ideal budget with me, and we can work out a payment plan or adjust sizing if needed. I always want my work to be accessible, but still priced its value.

    • The shipping cost will be invoiced to the collector once the weaving is finished. I will calculate the shipping cost using your mailing address and the dimensions/weight of the package.

    • Multiple quotes can be provided, allowing you to choose delivery carrier (USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc) and the shipping speed.

    • Free local Omaha, Nebraska pick up/delivery is available!

    • I’ll keep you posted as I work, sharing sneak peeks on Instagram (or emailing them to you, if you’re not on Instagram).

    • Before I remove your weaving from the loom and begin the finishing work, I will send you a photo/video documentation in case any changes need to be made. Once a weaving has been removed from the loom, no changes can be made due to the lack of supporting tension! After your approval, I’ll mail your weaving to its new home with you! The cost of shipping will be invoiced to you after the weaving is complete.

    • I am unable to take returns or offer refunds on commissioned woven wall hangings, due to their unique custom nature. To ensure that you love your commission, I will send you documentation throughout the commission process for your approval. This includes a photo of the yarns/fibers I’ve selected based on your requests, several process photos as I weave, and photo/video documentation of your weaving after it’s complete.

    • Changes can be made until it is removed from the loom. Once a weaving is off the loom, it loses tension and changes can no longer be made. I will not ship your commission until I hear your approval, and will take great care to safely package your weaving!

    • Of course, I want you to be happy with your commission — so if after all of this process you’re not happy with it, please email me immediately after receiving your commission piece explaining the issue.

Please email me at kate@lionheartcanyonstudio.com if you have any questions. I can’t wait to work with you!
